Chef Owned & Operated

18 Bay is the Chef owned and operated restaurant that Elizabeth Ronzetti and Adam Kopels had originally opened in 2005 in Bayville, NY. In 2006 they received an “Excellent” in the New York Times. However, with a desire to be in closer proximity to their producers and purveyors, the Chefs decided in 2011 to move 18 Bay to its current location on Shelter Island. Surrounded by the farms and sea that define their menu stands the historic building, and new home of 18 Bay Restaurant.
Originally built in 1893 by Marcus Duval, a decorated Civil War hero whose family had been on Shelter Island for generations. Named for its operators, Duval and Payne's was the original Post Office and General store for the Island, where residents came for everything from lamp oil to ice and even fresh meat from the butchery.
